I’m in love with these images. In the course of trying to be better about social media-ing and blogging and sharing things about life and photography and everything (basically, as a result of actually planning things), it’s been way longer than I intended to get them up on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Also, I realize I traditionally share one image on my blog posts (though I'm planning on sharing a few full sessions soon), I just have to share that gorgeous baptism gown, because how could I not?
I am clearly a fan of newborn and maternity photography. I don’t know if I could make that anymore clear on my website. I love working with our newest members of society and getting to know parents and generally having a great time. Newborn photography is fun. But, it’s always good to have a little variety in life and so, when I had the opportunity to photograph this gorgeous lady at five months old in December, I was so excited.
5-7 months is a great age for photographers. This is the age when they’re no longer newborns, and they’re all about discovering the world. Often at this age, they’re sitting up, but they’re not quite mobile. They’re wide-eyed and ready for anything. They want to talk, laugh, and play and have your undivided attention. This is a time when they want to explore the world, and they want you to explore with them.
This magic age is why I recommend having your little one come in to sit (literally, see what I did there?) for portraits whether you’re on a Baby’s First Year plan, you missed having newborn portraits made, or you just want to capture the joy of this age. They’re not quite at the age where they’re struggling with separation anxiety and they’re happy to watch and play. And giggle. We have lots of giggling going on (this seems to be a theme of my sessions, right? I mean, you don't want to be *too* serious when you're getting your photos taken!).
